Double check that, sled - you can shoot 223 but may NOT be safe w/ 556.
Mine says Cal. .223 / 5.56

It's a Colt. They made them to shoot either one. Not sure if I'd try it with a Bushy though.

OK, I've just read to be careful is all.
Not all can accept 556, but 223 is good in all.

If my gun said 223 and I put 556 in and it went kaboom
I guess I'll blame MDS.

Awe man, you got one of those messed up Colt's with the mixed up calibers. The only safe thing to do is pull the upper off and replace it with this belt fed upper.

you should dip the lower in cosmoline so you don't get spoiled

Nice job. You got a Colt, with an attached carry handle. My favorite! Its old school and that pencil barrel is really good looking. I love my Colt. The AR is a decent platform, and im sure youll enjoy the heck out of shooting it as will your wife. But dont forget your roots! Steel and wood win every time!
