If anything... It would cause the heat to dissipate at a much slower rate.

It would act as insulation and hold heat longer.

Agreed. However, the polymer it's made from doesn't readily transfer the heat, so from a shooter's perspective, the gun is cooler.

How many rounds are you shooting at 1 time through it? Never thought heat was an issue shooting any amount of rounds.
How much "boot" charging are you doing? Thing looks pretty clean.

Anything that slips on can (and Murphy's law) will say it's gonna slip off at the worst time and ruin your self defense shot. Probably not the best idea.

But, it's your shoot. So shoot it your way.

I prefer letting the gun metal cool off faster. Sustained heat is not a good thing for it. Perception is not necessarily reality.

And as for looks... To each his/her own...

Personally, I think it makes the gun look kind of "Highpoint-ish".

I agree with your points on letting metal cool but the "highpoint-ish" comment is a low blow.

As for boot charging I didn't know that was a thing. I'd try it but I know the RSO at AGC will yell at me again.

The only reason I listed boot charging is it could come in handy if you have an arm get shot. I'd never do it at a range. I practice it with snap caps in the privacy of my home.

I didn't get it for the cooling (or lack thereof). The main reasons I got it was so it could rack a non-modified slide from the front and so my wife could rack it. She can rack it with the skin, but not without. She can operate her primary gun without a problem, but you never know what she'll need to do.

Im sorry it was taken that way. I'm not a Highpoint hater. I just think the large blockish look of the slide with the cover installed, resembles a Highpoint.

It's really your choice to use one if you like it. I don't particularly care for the look for any of my Glocks. And adding mass to the slide just seems to be a waste, since I carry mine regularly.

If this was my EDC gun, I'd agree with you 100%. I have three different carry guns, one revolver and two single stack. Form has to follow function and when the function includes concealability, adding thickness is dysfunctional.

Lol! Good deal. I've got the Glock 23, .40 cal.

    Tony

Good gun. Mine has been sitting in the safe for a few years as I've been preoccupied with other guns. Did an idpa with it Tuesday and it shot real well, including a dozen head shots from 10 to 30 feet on one stage. Some of that was with an assortment of full house SD loads.

There only porny thing about this Glock is that it's a Gen 2.

It's got a NY2 trigger from when I got it but I might leave it like that for carry, but I'm probably going to return it to OEM. What do you think? It's a yes police return with just a wee bit of holster wear.

I love gen 2's. I think you should sell it to me and buy yourself a gen 3 or 4.
