I have seen the small base dies, what is the difference? I was thinking since .223 and 5.56 are a little different that might be the problem

Small base sizes a bit further down the case, and sizes the part near the base a LITTLE smaller.

The differences between .223 and 5.56 are in the throat, not the case area of the chamber. 5.56 has a longer throat, so the bullet has a bit more jump, and that means less of a pressure spike.

Ahhhhhh very good grasshopper, could be the solution, I did take notice of outriders comment about a FL die, the Dillon die I just put in didn't say, so I'm using a Redding that is stamped FL

    Dillon dies are full length.

Don't forget, ONLY CRIMP IF THE BULLET HAS A CANNELURE FOR CRIMPING.

If you crimp a non-cannelure bullet with a normal seat/crimp die, you WILL bulge the case.
