    She just turned 6.

There is a rifle builder who posted photos of his then six year old daughter with an AK on his web site. (He has his 07 and all the other ATF licenses.)

She should be about 13 now. I seriously doubt that any boy will try anything with her, either with or without her wishes.

Russ, I do understand why you wouldn't let the little one pop off a few. I did think the guy I mentioned was nuts.

Let the little angel play with dolls. They grow up too fast.

I honestly think until they are capable of fully understanding the responsibility of handling a firearm they shouldn't be around them.

Gotta disagree a little on this. Get/give them some good solid safety instruction at a young age and it will help to prevent some tragic event in the future. I went shooting for the first time when I was 6 and the lessons learned helped when I got into my dads guns when I got older.

Reminder to all - if you do not keep your guns locked up, your kids will find them and "play" with them...no matter how well you think they are hidden.

Until I'm comfortable that she understands the rammifications of a careless accident she'll stay home. She's actually very mature for 6 but still there's no reason to rush things.

I do understand. Unfortunately Hap is not a place that would allow reactive targets which would surely help convey the potential destructive properties of firearms.

A .22 and some fruit or full soda cans go a long way.
