Whoever tightened the nut for the barrel of my New Haven shotgun must have done it with a pneumatic tool. I can't get that damned thing off to save my life. I have tried by hand, with pliers, a wrench......that thing is on for LIFE.

The barrel is smooth and shiny inside, but I want to take it off and wipe the inside clean, naturally.

Not to mention, I now just want to take the barrel off to clean the threads on that damned nut.

No big problem, just wanted to vent to people who understand. The wife is looking at me like I am nuts.

Plus, it's too f*cking cold to be trying to do this crap in the garage.

Might just have a cup of coffee and wait until tomorrow.

    Hi,
when I heat stuff to loosen, I use my $14 hot air gun from Harbor freight. It's rated over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. The hot air is less damaging to a finish than an open flame. Just a thought.
    Good luck!
