As crime continues and we get the next sovereign citizen clinging bitterly to guns and bibles, to bomb something, the media will continue to push the narrative that gun owning Americans who support the COTUS are only a lesser threat than climate change and dumb shit Americans will believe it because the media says so and liberals will continue to chip away at liberty while republicans do absolutely nothing.

Just a bit? Wow!

I am pretty damn cynical myself, but I try to see the positive side of a raw deal (might as well), and then you go all ultimate defeatist on me.

At times I too get pissed and frustrated at the apparent hopelessness, but I don't allow it to consume me to the point that I am ready to give up. America is still out there, were are just currently being deprived of it. Don't forget, the applicant in the article was denied by DC, but a year ago there wasn't even a mechanism in place to get a permit during the outright ban. I give the applicant credit for testing the waters by applying.

When my soon to be submitted Maryland Carry & Wear Permit application is acted upon it will speak volumes. If it is approved I will be pleasantly surprised and it will demonstrate progress. If it is denied, I will know the current executive branch's true position, and whether their self-proclaimed support and commitment for the 2A is genuine or not. Either way, I will know more than I do now and it will guide my future actions. Worse case I become a statistic controverting the government's claim that anyone wanting and worthy of a permit can get one, i.e. yet another citizen that wanted to exercise a fundamental right but that was denied.

It's not a matter of whether she deserves it IMO. DC calculated there would be less damage to them by granting it than not. It's a calculated gamble, not an affirmation of her reasons.

Not necessarily. She was approved based upon documented threats against her personally with police reports. She also listed the threat from ISIS??? on media personnel which they denied that reason as that was too generic of a threat.

She says she's one of 16 in DC who can legally carry - out of a population of 660,000. She's one of the 0.0024%. And while I believe her permit was issued as a political action, I believe it was more STFU than "chosen few."
