A questions for those of you who got replacement battery caps.
How did your disconnect the cable?
Can you disconnect or did you just cut it and say oh well?

There is a little hex screw that is tightened down on the cable. Just loosen it and it comes right out.

You don't need to disconnect it at all unless you are replacing the entire battery compartment, not just the end caps/ springs.

I think I need glasses. I thought that was a rivet.
And yes... I am replacing the whole compartment.

From my post above you can clear see I was not playing with a full deck when I was working on this project.

As a result it is a long story but I have two of the 553 battery covers.
One I installed...
One will be for sale in the classified.
