Two days after engaging in his first Curios & Relics transaction at the Nation's Gun Show, somebody just got his Maryland "designated collector" letter from the state po-po when he got home today.

    Psyche-a-palooza!

As if my bank account needs any more of that kind of stimulation.

    Who needs a 401(k)?

I'll just work and shoot 'till I drop.

Congrats! I'm submitting my paperwork tomorrow. How long did it take for yours to come through?

About two months. Although, last week, I emailed the MSP just to inquire as to how long it usually takes and when I might be able to expect to receive it.

I never got an email reply, but I began to have a sneaking suspicion that I wouldn't; that one day I'd come home from work and VOILA! There it would be.

    And VOILA! THERE IT BE!

Guess I have to update my sig now.

    ;)

That's a good thing for you guys. Congrats!

Now, begin the collecting, empty your bank account, max your CC's and (most important) post MANY pics!

Yep, also side note I submitted my c&r the same day and got my first copy July 6 (I say first because they screwed up my address and had to send me a new one)

Now what to "start" my collection with....

I was sent one with an address that had a typo -- but my bad, because my handwriting sucks.

Then they sent me the correct one a week later, which is fine.

Then I got TWO "welcome" kits, one for each address.

    Duh.

It was totally their fault for mine because I sent it typed, but I got 2 welcome kits also:lol2:

    Congratulations to the OP:
I just received my confirmation email I mailed my application in on 06/18/2012:
    Michael W Cusimano (State Police)
Your application was Not Disapproved, you may begin to purchases as a collector. Letters will be mailed as soon as time allows.

Thanks to all the helpful people here at the forum that helped me accomplish this goal. Odd me feeling so good about what I feel was a right taken away from me to begin with.

Congrats! I have found being a Designated Collector is quite expensive! You may have more restraint than I do though.

Yeah I can tell you right now, you'll be tempted to spend more simply because you can. I know Dan and his wife try to talk me into it every time I'm there. Makes me wish I had more disposable income because there is so much stuff I want.
