Despite the vote, or rather the lack thereof, I still called to let them know that I'd like to see the bill come out of committee. Nice lady - phone, zip, name.

"We had a voting session late last night in Judiciary and Chairman Vallario left HB-9 off the voting list once again. I asked why and was told because you have the votes to pass it."

What a pathetic Jurassic Piece of $hit!!!

It sounds like Vallario is acting like Frosh, single handedly determining what legislation will pass instead of letting the delegates vote for legislation according to the wishes of their constituents. Nopefully the bill will make its way to the full house via petition.

Maybe it's time for a full court press against both Mikes - Busch and Miller.

While there's merit in having committee chairmen weed out the chaff from hundreds of bills introduced, there's no merit in throwing out the baby with the bath water.

Vallario's admitted the votes are there...damn it, pass it out of committee!

If he knew it had the votes, that's wheat in my book. he had no right to block it. This isn't even close to a democracy. VA did the same thing and makes gun bills go through a committee of antis.

The Founding Fathers would be ashamed.

    Well, here's my attempt -

    Dear Speaker Busch:

People by the dozens have called Chairman Vallario, requesting HB9 be brought to a committee vote.

    According to Delegate Smigiel:

“We had a voting session late last night in Judiciary and Chairman Vallario left HB-9 off the voting list once again. I asked why and was told because you have the votes to pass it. So, it appears that the reciprocity bill will not be let out voluntarily, but there is a rarely used method of petitioning a bill to the floor which I will begin work on next week.”

Mr. Vallario’s “desk drawer veto” is no different than Senator Frosh holding up the House’s civil immunity bill for three years.

When a bill is supported by a majority of committee members, it should go to the floor for full debate.

Please use the power of your office to move HB9 forward.

    A disgruntled Democrat.

    Patience grasshopper :)

I understand your frustration, but I think we should at least wait until the end of the term to get mad at Smeigel, and of course, he is only one person.

He's def proven at least to me he is trying, but he can't move mountains.

Here is his previous status detailing what we are dealing with:

"I just had four people from Montgomery County who are all victims of home invasions testify that none of them would apply for permits to carry because they don't think they would be safer with guns in the house. What world am I living in? Even if we passed their bill to increase penalties they would still be victims. I can't believe anyone would choose to be a victim over being armed."

Our favorite delegate is a busy dude. On his behalf - thanks, Minuteman. We appreciate your efforts.

(NOT that I have a "legal name" to speak on his behalf but feel I know him well enough to say it... :lol2: ...but did you guys see the youtube smackdown on the Ceasefire imposter?)

Do we know if Smeigel will try the petition route like last year?

He's indicating he probably won't, I doubt he thinks he has the votes to petition it out of the Senate Judiciary where Frosh has locked his guns onto it and given a shoot to kill order.
