Cut shells. Modified birdshot to make it perform someone like a slug.

I have not tried it and with my 'stores', I don't think I'd need to get to it either but, interesting info both for and against trying it.

There was an old thread here but much of it is bad links so starting another one.
This is extreme SHTF ONLY imo and information purposes only.

NOTE: OPEN cylinder bores as a tight full bore may bulge your barrel.

Hopefully, this information will turn people away or at least think more and be safe about it before trying something they have "heard about".
sure, alone in the woods, starving and all you got is birdshot, you see a deer, yea I may try it.

    Be safe everyone.

Peppering someone with birdshot would discourage most "normal" people.

I've had mixed results with cut shells... have tried it just to play around and I guess in a field expedient pinch, it would do. I've had pretty good success with wax slugs. Same basic concept. Open up a shell, dump the shot, melt some wax and pour in the shot, then spoon it back into the shell (minus a few original pellets to accommodate the volume of the wax). It holds together pretty well.

It was pointed out in the original thread that this is an inherently bad idea with screw in chokes of the full variety

The concept is to cut the hull so it breaks away when fired, so that the hull holds the full load of shot together and it basically becomes a lethal bean bag, hitting as a single projectile instead of individual shot pellets.

I am aware. Just saying Peppering some one that is not methed out would discourage behavior.
