Better to get one with a full winter coat for a mount- give it a month for State College area.

I'm not going to even try to catch a coyote, but I will set traps that will hold one, as I have been doing for years. If the coyotes want to gift me, fine, if not, at least I hope they don't rip up any foxes I catch. They were nice to not do so last season.

To the origonal poster the frederick watershed has some good spots in it to hunt coyote. Some places are extremely thick as you mentioned but in some spots you can see for 100yds or more. Me and a close friend have started coyote hunting up there this year. We are waiting for deer season to end before we really get serious. If you would like to join us some time shoot me a pm.

squeling rabbit call works real good

need to camo up real good.

they always want to come in sniffing/downwind

put an open field on your downwind side so you can see & reach them out a ways

Was squirrel hunting yesterday in Carroll County about 5 mins from home and had a coyote run up to me on the trail. Was with my dad and he jumped up to shoot it and it bolted. It ran off before either of us could get a shot at it. Was a younger coyote that still had nice fur.
This was along MD 27 at a friend's farm in Westminster.
