    Hello all-

I'm looking for a chrono that has a larger than average skyscreen. Reason is that I'm interested in having this unit downrange (500+yds) and shooting thru it for velocity data. The bigger the skyscreen, the less worries about killing it or not getting data.

Any help much appreciated. thanks much,
    -James

Check your manual... some models work without the sky screen; it helps to create a uniformly bright backdrop for the projectile, but isn't always needed.

Have you got one of those fold-out/pop-up awnings - they're typically 10'x10' of transluscent white material which is similar to what a chrony sunshade has. Roughly equivalent to a uniform overcast day and much easier to schedule.

If you do not know the bullet BC and need to figure this out, two set distance points much closer in should give you the data differences to calculate the BC. Closer in will have less wind deflection problems. With the BC and initial velocity you can figure the velocity at most any distance (add in for temp/altitude and humidity).

Yes, but closer in will increase error. Not worried about wind deflection, as I'm just tying to find MV.

thanks for the replied guys. I just thought if someone knew of a chrono with a bigger than average screen it would be of interest.
