Even in the non Covidian times the small mall was a tough act for foot traffic and it's various boutique stores.
Looking at it now, Toy store is gone which had fairly good support from local families. Forty-one years..

“Because of the closure during the pandemic, mounting bills, mall construction, our advanced ages, and the limited return to in-store shopping, we feel we have no choice but to end our many happy years in Potomac”

I went the other day, entire mall was locked up. Probably get down to only the Liquor store and McDonalds. Lots of space for rent.

My kids shop at that Shoe Train place in there from time to time, and it always seems to have a bit of a crowd. But, really, malls in general are on the downswing. White Flint coming to mind, especially.

Given everything that has been built on the "strip mall" side of things there recently, it's not much of a wonder that the indoor shops aren't faring well. You have only so much parking there and the majority is taken up by people going to the other restaurants and shops there that it'd be a hassle to get into anyway.

There's a youtube feature on abandoned malls. As long as amazon exists you can count on all of them going away...except for the squatters. It doesn't bother me be ause its obvious that the consumer is getting what they want?
