    I'm still working on that untouched stock, haven't forgotten about it. ;)

    If you put some heat on the stock with a heat gun, or maybe even a hair dryer-it will help the pine tar penetrate and hopefully get a little darker. If you can heat the stock and heat the mixture while rubbing it in, I've been told it really helps.

    No experience on my end, just what I've read.

    That is what I did. I think over time it will get darker. Unfortunately someone took the time to pull the original finish out of the stock and shellacked it.
