Believe it or not the redfield revolution 4-12x40 scopes are excellent. I got one on a remington I bought recently and shot it for the first time today. Crystal clear and very sturdy. I would recommend one for hunting.

    Behind enemy lines...
    I have a Nikon buckmasters 4.5X14 on my model 700 7mm.
That being said, it's getting replaced with a Vortex Viper.
Check out cameralandny for good prices on open box and display models.

:thumbsup: I've used 6-18x 40 Nikon Buckmasters which are very good for the money. However Buckmasters are getting hard to find because they've been dis-continued.

As a substitute, I heartily recommend the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 from CameraLand ( $369 + free shipping ). The optics are clear and sharp. The adjustments are audible and tactile. When you move the adjustments 1 inch to the left...the shot group moves 1 inch to the left. What more can you ask?? A friend of mine has Nikon Monarchs. These Vortex Vipers are the definitely EQUAL to the monarchs AND... cost $150-$200 less than the Monarchs.

The Vipers also have a 30MM tube and 65 MOA total adjustment range. (much more the the Nikons ).
