Bears, no big deal. They're large enough to give you some advance notice. Bear spray is widely available and highly effective, especially against Black Bears that are found in this area.

THIS is the sign I found deep in the woods along a trail in the hills of Pennsylvania. There's no such thing as "rattlesnake spray" and I'd probably have been prohibited from using it anyway.

This thing sprays rattlesnakes...
