Breda and Beretta both made M1's for a Danish contract. Best I can tell it started as one of those. Defiantly 30-06. No importer marks, so I assume that it fell from Canada.
I saw a Breda M1 parts kit at the Chantilly show last fall. It was $250 with all parts except the receiver, furniture, and furniture metal. I was tempted to buy it to rebuild on a CMP stripped receiver.

Probably one of the Danish M1s from the CMP. Wish I had bought one when they first came into the country. One of the dumber things I did/didn't do.
At first hardcore Garand collectors po-poo'd them but when word got around about how they were great shooters and had excellent build quality that changed. Now they command a premium with many shooters and collectors.
I'm jealous!
