Attended a "Teams/Zoom" meeting Tuesday evening, Jan 16th, with the NRA but...it was not what we expected.

The meeting was supposed to last for 30 minutes which turned out to be around 15 minutes when the speakers actually did talk it seemed like nothing more than a feel good session.

Everyone was blocked on video and audio......but you could text in the Chat column. I'm not sure if anyone got any answers.

I have been very frustrated with the NRA not handling Maryland issues yet, they take Marylander's Membership dues.

The meeting was not productive by any means.

    Still very frustrated......

Was this the NRA, or the NRA-ILA (the latter being the entity you'd want helping "with Maryland issues," which they do).

Then do what many of us have done and stopped donating to them. Other second amendment advocacy groups have taken up the cause where the national rifle association has dropped the ball. The NRA now stands for not real advocates.

It's different sides of the same coin. They're not autonomous organizations. They like to say they are but they're not.
But they exist for different reasons, raise and spend money in different ways, on different things. You don't have the NRA involved in supporting 2A litigation. That's the NRA-ILA. A meeting with the NRA isn't going to be about the same things as a meeting with the NRA-ILA. That's why I asked.

There used to be a young lady who would come to Annapolis and testify with us. Back in the day, that is.
    Yup.

Shannon Alford, a real asset. he finally moved on from the NRA thanks to death threats against her and her family from the anti-2A element -- you know, the Party of Love, Unicorns and Rainbows, and cross-burnings and lynchings and SWATtings and Mostly Peacefulness.

The NRA was really the only successful 2A org at the federal level for a long time, we supported them, we trusted them, Lapierre betrayed us, fired anyone worth a F, promoted his corrupt cronies in their place, and has been dismantling any credibility the organization has. He hasn't done anything to benefit us for quite some time, and only stepped down when it became abundantly clear he needs to get his affairs in order to face the charges and lawsuits with his upcoming trial. I was an instructor, NRA member for decades and won't renew or spend a dime on them till they completely wash Lapierre's corrupt stink away. I still have a couple years left before my membership actually expires, have voting rights, and know one or two reps that haven't left the org, so I still do express my opinion given the chance. I know others that do, probably the reason they have "meetings" like the OP's where they seem to treat the 1A like Lapierre has treated the 2A.

Luckily other orgs have proven to be very effective in reclaiming our rights, and deserving of support, or at least far more likely to spend donations on 2A causes instead of hookers, hotels, and defending corruption charges in court. MSI, SAF and FPC get my money now.

Then on top of it LaPiere got a 17 MILLION Dollar Umbrella payment when he left......?

That is NOT a non for profit......

He should be forced to donate that to a credible 2A non for profit.

I wish the gun clubs around Maryland would allow people to join a different entity instead of forcing them to join the NRA.

They all say the same thing......You can not join our gun club unless you are an NRA member. I understand that they get kick backs but having others to choose from might bring in more members. I have heard many people say they refuse to join doe to this requirement. I have even asked my club if they would allow us to join the GOA in place of the NRA but hey said no.

The problem is that many clubs have NRA sanctioned matches.

In order to stay an NRA affiliated club, the NRA requires 50% + 1 of the members are NRA members.

The "kickback" is actually an "administrative fee: that the club can keep for processing the NRA membership as an NRA affiliated club.

Until NRA will permit clubs to accept other memberships to be qualified as an NRA affiliated club, I don't see this happening.

Doesn't matter. I haven't put my faith in or donated to them since the whole WLP debacle came to light. And I'm going to continue to withhold until we see who is going to replace him and see if they are all talk and no action..I will gladly write them a decent check if they actually start working for us again.
