If we are correct about the permit numbers, we know how many applications are outstanding from 7/29 to 8/4: As of 8/4 MSP zoom call, there were 25k applications. As of today 16-17k have been approved. That means 8000-9000 apps remaining from between 7/29 and 8/4. It will take ~ 3-4 weeks to get through those at the current approval rate, putting 8/4 applicants around 75+ days from acceptance to approval. I think they will get through them a little faster because they will hire people.

    So what does
    finally got a nics number

    applied 7/30
    approved 8/4
    nics 9/12 with number
    permit number ?

any idea for the time frame of permit in hand ?

You are probably looking at early October for approval

    Resubmitted 8/2
    Acceptance 8/3
    NICS 8/3 with number
    Assigned investigator 9/2
So my question is if it was accepted 8/3 and NICS was completed on the same day 8/3 why would they send an email on 9/2 saying it was assigned to an investigator ?

Because they have assigned an investigator to investigate you and see if you show up on any of the more than a dozen other databases they check. So if you are clear you should get notified as soon as they approve the rest of the people who were accepted on 7/30, 7/31, 8/1, 8/2, and the people on 8/3 that are ahead of you. Should be in 10 days to two weeks, then another 5+ days to get the permit in the mail.

Ok because I was being told NICS is the Background check and I know it is. A buddy who submitted same day as me was approved this morning no investigation email recieved went from submitted to acceptance to approved

Get is permit number, except for last two digits… that will tell us if it’s valid.

I suspect the vast majority of us didn't get an investigator assigned email nor did one show up when doing print app.

I would assume an order of steps would be followed to the letter for something so important. I guess that's a pipe dreams same as all of MDs BS processes.
