Has anyone tried this Federal 22LR ammo?
    Good, Bad, OK?

Plan to use in S&W MP15-22 and ISSC MK22 SCAR

TIA for any feedback or opinions?

I guess the days of .99 box .22 is gone forever! I remember when Kmart in Joppatowne closed, They had a special on Fed Lightening for about .67 / box. I remember the girl at the register freaked and called the store manager when I said... I will take it all!

My 10/22 hated it. I had better luck with Remington.
I used to run Fed Champ all the time in my 10/22, with no issues. Weird. I've always had the best results from Federal out of the three big bulk packs.

That said, I find that CCI's stuff can often be worth the extra cost, especially if you're trying for precision shooting at ranges > 25yds.

I have no trouble shooting it, but its the second dirtiest ammo I've ever used. Buy a lot of it and get used to cleaning your gun.

I'll pay a little more and shoot a few more rounds between cleanings.

I have been using it with no real issues out of my 10-22 and Buckmark.

However, I was practicing for our club pistol league and a range mate gave me some CCI 40gr Mini-Mags to shoot.

My groups instantly shrunk with the Buckmark using the Mini-Mags.

So, the Champion is inexpensive, pretty reliable and makes great range ammo. It is, IMHO the most accurate bulk ammo, but there are better out there if you are an accuracy junkie.
