An arrested at airport in NY for "illegal weapons"

Got me thinking, say I'm taking a flight, and that flight gets diverted or has an unexpected change of flight plans that has me taking a connecting flight from NY and I'm flying with checked handguns and or rifles and high capacity mags. Granted he shouldn't have had any of them loaded but this still seems strange to me.

Once you cleared TSA at your departure location, then you are good. Your luggage is checked to your final destination. Now if you decide to retrieve your checked luggage and hangout in nyc during the layover, then you are screwed...don't fly (check in with TSA again).
