Would this be an appropriate stand for shooting at elk neck I know it has to be 48" and free standing.

    48" was the OLD height...

It was changed to 54" high at center of the target earlier this year...

    The construction looks very good...

Great choice of readily available target...

Bring some 4 (5-10 Lb) weights to hold down the 4 corners on windy days...

    Hope this is helpful...

Very helpful thanks. Now just need to find some time next week to head up and shoot. Is it pretty quiet there during a weekday morning?

i prefer pvc target stands. every time I shoot with someone else they blow my stand apart somehow. way easier to repair pvc then wood. just don't glue it together.

Is the pistol range open yet? I thought someone said it would be closed for about 2 weeks. As far as stands go, I have a PVC pipe base but to each their own.

I was there Sunday AM...they did a great job on the rifle area! The pistol area looks like they are shortening several lanes to 25 yards, but leaving some at 50.

Put a new eyebrow over the berm and redid the berm, also replaced some of the damaged wood on the baffles on rifle range. Pistol range they are shortening 4 lanes to only 25 yards. Replacing the eyebrow, and berm. Adding a new berm for the shorter lanes. Replacing some of the damaged boards on the berm.
