He was on and made a comment regarding CCWs to the effect that 90% have been approved. Isn't he splitting hairs? He acted as if anyone who wanted one would probably be approved. Aren't they just ignoring applications so that they can keep their percentage up?

I sent Facebook message to T-bone and Heather and stated i didn't think it was true and that they should apply to find out.

Reply back was he's got the numbers but maybe she would apply.

Did anyone else hear this segment yesterday?

I searched for Heather and Gansler and found no dupes.

Splitting hairs or telling stories. After this year's hearings. It is difficult to believe anything that is said by one of the governors cronies. I have never heard so many outright whoppers told in my life.

Technically, it's true. What he lies about is that no one applies (and forfeits the $75 fee) that doesn't have a chance of meeting their "May Issue" standard

Splitting hairs, telling stories, or ...

    Lying with impunity ?

They have gone WAY BEYOND 'shading the truth', and it seems to be a trend across the entire Democrat party here in the PRofMD and Nationally.

2014: The next frontier in the gun control battle?

According to the above article on CBS News, anti-gunners are better organized and better funded than ever, and are redoubling their efforts to head-off what they see could be a major defeat in 2014. If you have been following those efforts, you see why they seem so desperate.

In a new Gallup poll, only 4% of Americans think gun control is a pressing issue. Obama and O'Malley like to keep bringing up a 'questionable' stat that says 90% of the country supports stricter background checks. Even if that number were true, apparently very few Americans actually think the issue is important, so the antis keeping perpetuating a lie to make it seem like one.

So, what does this mean to you?

Challenge the lies you encounter, whether in print or on-the-air. Call in, write, comment, blog, do everything to make your voice heard. The anti's are using Goebbels-like propaganda tactics that need to be exposed. It also means you need to get involved in elections NOW. If we remain vigilant and become proactive and we can protect, and possibly expand, our gun rights in 2014.

This. People in MD know not to waste their time and money at this point.

A couple of local radio DJ's that usually don't have a clue in the first place.

Exactly ... and what a better place to 'educate' the great unwashed than on their program.

'Doogie' Gansler shies away from AM talk radio because they challenge his lies.

    It is technically true.

Maryland's "May Issue" standard of proof is based off a State Supreme Court decision called Snowden.

The court found that you must demonstrate actual danger to receive a permit. Even then, the state has denied permits to rape victims, assault victims and others, claiming the odds of their crimes repeating are very low.

With a non-refundable fee, only the 1% can afford to "apply and see" if their reason is good enough for the MSP.

So is forfeit of the $75 really the deterent from a mass permit application drive? Or is it the fact that everyone who did so would have a denial on their record?

Sure, the 1% have the money to apply and loose, but a lot of us 99%ers, 75 dollars is a lot of money to loose.

75 dollars is my grocery budget for 2 weeks.

    That's how you answer that.

It's more than $75 with livescan. Most people who apply know they will be approved. It is also important to note that some people have had their applications returned as-is with a little note saying "are you sure you want to do this?"

While it may be true due to the cost ensuring that only people who think they have a chance of getting a CCW will apply, it does not mean diddlysquat. The reality is that in Maryland it is extremely difficult to receive a CCW permit due to the requirements.

Also, I get a feeling that this 90% number is quickly becoming the new "go-to" statistic for the liberals. Before you know it, Bloomberg is going to ban assault numbers lower than 90% because they aren't good for your health.

Look are your CCW rights worth a 75-100 dollar donation to the cause?? Wouldnt it be swell if at the next session we can here that 90% were disapproved?? its hard to make a case when the numbers say that we are in the minority. Does losing 100 bucks suck, yes, does losing your life someday in the future because the criminal is armed and your not suck worse...I would say yes.

The problem is that some other states ask if you've ever been denied for a permit.
