So how is this to be enforced at self checkout lines? Watching this fiasco at Walmart is gonna be fun.

Well, except for Annapolis, they're exempt.

Story didn't get into why they are tho.
    WTF?

So they created a law to benefit the retailers? imagine that

    Why just Annapolis?
How does not having to charge .10 per plastic bag that isn't used within the guidelines, a benefit?

    Go read the article.
”Starting February 1, 2024, retailers are mandated to charge a minimum of 10 cents per bag, with the collected fee intended to cover the cost of the bags. The retailer retains this fee”

I'll just drop this right here.

Why is Annapolis exempt from charging for bags? That's the point of the whole fcking thread.
It benefits those who shop in Annapolis. Also, one can argue that it doesn't benefit Annapolis retailers since they can't get reimbursed for plastic bags they provide.

Baltimore Co did last year and it sucks. Some stores will charge you for paper bags, some don't. If using self checkout, it will ask you how may bags did you use and charge per.
I keep a Sams club bag I bought many years ago in my truck now.

But no part of Balt county is exempt.

    You might want to review:
The county’s Plastic Reduction Act dictates that retailers within Anne Arundel County are no longer permitted to provide plastic bags to customers during checkout. Instead, retailers can offer paper bags or reusable bags for purchase.

If I had to guess, higher ups in Annapolis government said don’t do it here or else….
There doesn’t seem to be any other logical reason to not include them
