Not sure who came up with the idea of a state preemption law, but this is what we could face if we ever lose the protection.

Now, NY has a state assault weapons ban and the state prohibits any new mags over 10 rounds. Mags over 10 are OK if they were made prior to a certain date in 1994. Buffalo went beyond that.

Any long gun with a magazine over five rounds is an Assault Weapon in Buffalo?

My '17 Enfield is an Assault Weapon (6 round mag)?

A 1884 Mauser is an Assault Weapon (8 round tubular magazine)?

A bolt action Mossberg .22 with a 7 round magazine is an Assault Weapon?

No doubt we shall see the crime rate plummet in Buffalo!

§ 180-4. Throwing of missiles prohibited; use of designated areas required.
No person shall throw stones, snowballs, missiles or other objects or shoot with or use a
bow and arrow or sling or play at ball in a public place or a private place of assemblage
except as to such public or private places designated for such use.

    Woot! Woot!

Illegal to toss a snowball! Illegal for Dad to play a little catch with Junior!

    It's for the children!

I was wrong, crime won't plummet, it will vanish entirely!

Why oh why didn't someone think of this before?????

(I notice they banned the "shoulder things that go up, also. Paradise on Earth has been achieved. Imagine all the People!)

But why can children make snowballs? Sure, they say that they won't throw them, but as we know, there's no background check system. They need to ban snow before someone gets hurt.

So the way I read it, if you have 100 round drum magazine for a rimfire rifle your okay? I read it as saying "center fire cartridges". I think NY has lost their flipping minds!!

This legislation, in and of itself, will make more criminals then I care to count!

The next big fad in NY will be .22 cal. AR15's with 30 round mags. They seem to be okay. Or is that where the 5 round mag. comes into play. Do they honestly think that the nutjobs that want a bigger mag aren't just going to go elsewhere and buy them? Also, since when did nutjobs and criminals pay attention to the laws???

No. The state assault weapons ban restricts any mag to 10 rounds or less unless made before 1994. How many 30 round .22 AR mags were there back then? Conversion kits weren't as common.

So Maryland gun laws suck, but it can always be worse

You want to hear how bad NY is?? When I lived up there, a judge in Erie County, Buffalo area, decided that handling a handgun was possession and required a pistol permit. If I drove to another county, no such restrictions. However today in NY they have such a state wide restriction. If you do not have a permit, you can't handle a handgun in that state.

In order to own a handgun requires a permit, which can take six to 12 months to get, if they approve you.
