Found a complete lower receiver with trigger assembly and guy says it requires an FFL transfer and 7 day wait for release.

Does that mean it is considered a handgun?

If not, does it/will it affect my very recent handgun purchase and paperwork, as far as the 30 day period between purchases?

    Thanks for any info.

it's considered a regulated firearm per MSP.

no it's not a handgun but you may have to wait. I can't recall.

    someone will chime in.

I don't mind the wait, 7 days or otherwise...;)

I just don't want it to screw up my handgun purchases. It;s from an FFL, but he wasn't even 100% sure himself about it affecting the whole handgun wait stuff...

I have my collector status in motion, today is end of 3rd week, so hopefully it's a moot point very soon...

Any effect of the 30 day between buys handgun law?

That's my biggest concern. Not worried about the wait so much.

If you have a DC, than no need to concern yourself with that.

If you haven't picked up anything regulated since Jan 12, than you're fine.

i believe if it's regulated, then without your DC letter you gotta wait 30 days.

regulated is regulated, handgun or not.

    Haven't received the letter yet...been 3 weeks. :sad20:
Did purchase handgun though...4 days ago.

crap....now I have learned much more about the "regulated" term...

Thanks guys. Looks like I am screwed, unless letter shows up today or tomorrow. :o

Unfortunately, prior to the days of the Firearms Stupidity Act, the term "regulated" also applied to the list of scary looking rifles.

Ain't life in Maryland just peachy?

As others have said it's a 30 day wait between picking up the Handgun and picking up the lower, unless you get your letter before the 30 days. The day you have your letter you can go pick up your lower, as long as there has been 7 days since you filed paperwork on the lower. More confused yet?

To clarify, it's 30 days between pickups. You can certainly go buy the lower now to secure it and then pick it up 30 days after your last pickup. That way you can seal the deal now and pickup in 30 days.

The Designated Collector letters are taking 2-4 weeks right now. Yours should show up any day now. Definately before the 7 day wait for your lower is over.

You will be fine with the two, but, without the DC, you have to wait 60 days for your next purchase. You should have your DC by then, so, the 60 day wait will be forgiven.

Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate it.

Looks like when all is said and done, money wise it may be better option to just buy one complete, and walk out the door with it.

Kinda goofy you need to wait 7 days to buy an empty lower, but can cash and carry a complete AR... :wtf:
