$130ish for a spam can is still a whole lot of fun. I wish I could buy that much (good) 8mm ammo at that price point.

I like my Mosins and if the only ammo available was the commercial stuff I'd buy it. I'd shoot my Mosin's less...but I'd still buy it.

Im with you on that. I love the Romanian surplus but it priced me out

I rather wait a week, order online and save about $20 buck .... that's another 100 -/+ rounds of 54r fun at the range.....................

And we wonder why shops go out of business...hint, cheapasses like US don't help. By all means continue not supporting local businesses who fought hard and donated money to our cause last year and this year. :lol2:

be honest, if I support them, who support me? If the price is right, sure, I would definitely drive there and pick them up. But especially ammo price now a day and the economy, everyone is squeezing every penny.

You support you! Not to be hypocritical - I buy small parts and ammo mostly online, but I only transfer when it's something I can't find locally and direct my firearm needs as locally as possible when feasible.

dan's ammo site looks shady and the link to the 54r ammo is not working

The links on the left when you click the descriptions are just to a picture of the ammo. The one for the crate works. To buy it you have to click the little cart picture to the right of the price. They're under the column "ADD" and when you click it a window comes up asking for your zip code. Once you put that in it takes you to the cart.

So much for stockpiling mosins because the ammo is dirt cheap and will always be available.
    :lol2:

My youngest son recently bought a Mosin, and I asked him, "Why?"

He used your words, almost verbatim.

When Obamalamadingdong signed that Executive Order, I told him he better buy some of that 7.62 "R" stuff, quickly.

He said the same thing, again.

Now, it looks like he's got a nice Mosin fireplace poker.

PPU and Herter's are fairly cheap, and not Russian.

And it is not like you are going to mag dump a Mosin with a 60 round mag.:lol2:

Makes me glad I bought a miniscule amount last year at 85/440.

I believe the companies that are claiming out of stock are sitting on it waiting for the shortage/panic to increase.

Then they'll miraculously find some to sell at a much larger profit margin.

I kinda feel the same way lol. All the sudden, "banned ammo now back in stock, we just found a pallet at the old storage somewhere, magically!" I didn't care, I just ordered 3 crates.

At some point in time economics and ammo availability may reduce us to rolling our own 7.62x54r to feed our Mosins.

    We're not there yet.

In the meantime, don't forget the lesson of the "Ant & Grasshopper" Aesop fable.

Mosins like cast boolits almost as much as factory rounds...

    Just sayin'...
