So, I am trying to streamline some stuff. Need more room, need money, sent daughter to college and need car repairs .It could probably pay for a car repair and help with tires. I am debating selling my Wolf Performance Arms 6.5G AR-15 upper and ammo, and just keep my .308s. I have a few .308 rifles, and mainly got the 6.5G upper to extend the range and potency of my M4 carbine. I think I shot it once at 100 yards, put it away, and haven't used it since. 6.5G has less recoil than the .308, but it's also more expensive now that Wolf 6.5G ammo dried up, so cheap range ammo isn't as plentiful. So, should I sell it off, or hold onto it? I'm on the fence, or I wouldn't be asking. I have maybe 7-800 rounds of Wolf 6.5G ammo, and 2 boxes of Hornady. Only shot the Wolf, and it was ok. Kids don't shoot with me as much as they used to. I just keep asking myself is it really worth keeping?

I reload for mine so not *that* expensive. A bit more expensive to reload than some calibers because there seems to be a bit of a premium on quality 6.5mm bullets right now.

For me I would keep it. The 6.5 Grendel is an amazing caliber. Says the man with 7 different cartridges in 13 different rifles. On the other hand if it never gets shot and you have no intended use. Sale it and use the money for supporting cartridges you plan to use.

I sympathize with the OP, because I've had some of the same thoughts. The economics of 6.5 Grendel changed a lot with the Russian ammo ban. Cheap steel-cased ammo made it appealing as a premium blaster. Now... not so much.

I can reload 6.5G indefinitely, but the economics of it are somewhat meh. It basically costs the same as 308 to reload at current prices (mostly driven by brass). If I were shooting at longer distances more regularly, I'd probably have more enthusiasm, but it's pretty rare for me to go beyond 200yds these days. The problem with most of my shooting is that retrieving the brass is often difficult, and that's where you take the biggest hit on 6.5G.

I have a bolt gun (Ruger American) and an AR upper in 6.5 Grendel, and I don't think I've shot them in a couple years. If I were being honest with myself, I'd shoot/sell the rest of my ammo, strip the upper, sell the bolt gun (which I basically never shoot anymore anyways), and just throw the barrel/BCG/mags in storage. If PSA ever releases steel-cased 6.5G in the future, rebuilding an upper isn't all that hard.

Just bought a brass goat for this very reason - annoying to go track down the brass.

I haven't tried it yet, so maybe someone will chime in on its usability.

Haven't tried that but I use a cheap Caldwell brass catcher. Works fine.
