45 acp case issues

Im working up some new loads for my 1911. Im using three new bullets, and 1 new powder.

The bullets are Hornady XTP 200gr, Hornady 185gr XTP and 185gr Nosler JHP. The new powder (new to me) HP-38

Ok so Im prepping cases and in working up I've crunched a number of cases. Mostly all Speer. So, Im tossing all Speer and Amerc cases.

Ive got a number of cases that I have no idea who they are, so...what other cases should I toss?

On the press? Re-sizing? When seating bullets?

Never had any issues with any .45 brass except small primer brass. I don't shoot it or reload it. Nothing wrong with it but I don't want it mixed in with my large primer brass.

I'm thinking this dude has to be what's causing the "crunch"...

You need to flair out the case mouth more. Can you fit a bullet by hand into the case? If not you need to lower your expanding die.

I have never had a problem with any case especially Speer brass. Until you explain what you mean by French I doubt anyone can help you.

Yeah, a bit more on the expanding die. Speer is fine brass. Amerc is not the best quality, I chuck that stuff.

Please post some pics.

But if it's when you are seating the bullets, you need to flare the cases...

Yep, need more flare to the case mouth.

Cases have been flared, and it's only with 2 RP. And 7 Speer

If they need it - yes. Use your case expanding die to open (flare) the case mouth enough so the base of the bullet can enter it maybe .003".

Ok so here is a pic. I forgot how much of a pain it is to uploads photos.

I came to the conclusion that i was too far up in the die and was putting a slight crimp on the round. But there was no issues with any of the other brass. I just seems to me that the Speer is weak in the midsection...

thought?
