Yes I picked up my Dead Air Mask and Rugged Obsidian 9 last Friday. They were approved July 20 and 28 respectively but the paperwork didn't get to GunMetal until September 2.

I am still waiting for a Griffin Paladin 30 which was cashed 11/5/21. If things go as they have been, I probably won't get it until January.

No I can't but I will say I use CCI Quiet in my Ruger 10/22 and all I hear is the same click I hear if I dry fire...

Can someone tell me why CCI Quiet (40gn 710FPS) is louder than any other subsonic ammo I am using in my Dead Air Mask?
    That’s odd.

I literally was just shooting this past weekend. My suppressor is a CGS HYDRA-SS. Used it on 4 different 22s, used 8 different types of ammo.

The CCI quiet was, by far, the quietest ammo I shot. In 3 different rifles (2 bolts, 1 semi) and a pistol…. Of course, it did not cycle the semis. However, the CCI-quiet Semi Auto (840? fps) did cycle both my TCR22 rifle and my Ruger Mark IV pistol and was quieter then the rest of the stuff I shot (CCI suppressor, CCI SV, Aguila SubSonic, etc).

Not sure what to tell you? Maybe just some weird resonance with your can and barrel ? What were you shooting it out of?

In my bolt guns, it was stupid quiet. Simply ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong, even CCI SV was quiet, but the CCI QUIET is a definite/ noticeable difference.

I was shooting it out of a ruger 10/22 with a 16 inch barrel with a bolt locking device.

The POI on the stuff at 25 yards is about 3 inches below my other subsonic stuff like Federal, Gemtec and Aquila through my Dead Air Mask. It really is strange.

That is odd... it's hollywood quiet for me out of a bolt gun and quieter than any other even out of my 15-22 suppressed. Here is some rough data I put together a while back. It's crude, using my phone and a sound pressure level app to measure 3 different types out of a bolt 22. I did notice more variations in velocities with Quiet than that other CCI ammo that I tested that day and I need more data to really complile something worthy.

I had same POI shift. But that’s expected with it being such a low velocity.

I’m a fan of Dead Air but the mask did not impress me like some of their other models. There is definitely a first round pop and it’s just not as quiet as expected.

In the case of the CCI Quiet, it pops any time I shoot it. As for the Mask, grease does away with the first round pop but, despite all the hype about it, I too thought it was louder than I expected. It is compact though, and I can throw it in a ultrasonic cleaner so it does have its virtues.

Love my mask, sounds really good. With light loads or really heavy bullets, you get more residual gas in a semi, more port pop when it cycles. Should be noticeably quieter in a bolt or holding the action closed in a semi. The CCI quiet semi auto(45gr@835fps) are the quietest out of most of my stuff, they cycle, they do have more port pop than SVs in a couple pistols. Standard velocity are my go-to, not much louder, and found everywhere.

I found this exactly true. CCI Standard Velocity is not huge difference, can be found everywhere and is cheap. I just ordered another couple thousand from BassPro.

CCI quiets WILL drop significantly either with a can or not. Its the velocity. Test it out.

The semi-auto quiets have more port pop than other subsonic rounds, but I think it is because it is using a very fast powder to help cycle the action, so the action opens faster than it would with a subsonic round that is using a (typically) slower burning powder. In particular on my Browning buck mark the semi-auto quiets are probably not hearing safe at all. Regular quiets are (but don't cycle the gun). In my 10/22 the semi-auto quiets are probably hearing safe, but are noticeably louder than regular quiets. They are a lot quieter than subsonic/standard velocity stuff.

With a can on my 10/22 (I don't have a threaded barrel on my buckmark yet) semi-auto quiets are about as loud as subsonic and in some cases sound a little louder to me. Regular quiets are still substantially quieter than subsonics with a can on.

Try the CCI 45gr “suppressor” ammo. Marketed for rifles, but I’ve used it in my SR22 (with the DA mask) and had very little POI shift (and quiet too!) I also use it in my 10/22 TD with a SBX barrel with excellent results! I prefer my switchback when I’m using a 16” barrel (silly quiet with SSS ammo, it’s a 1:9 barrel…with a bolt lock device….) On another note, you’ll love the paladin when you get it (built like a brick $hithouse….. I quickly lit off 60 rounds of 5.45 from a 8.3” barreled AR and it didnt even break a sweat (though I did burn a hole through one of those silencerco “hot pads” shops like to give out when I rested it on the bench….)

I keep a welders glove on the bench so I don't start a Mrs. O'Leary's fire.

I just ordered some of the CCI Suppressor stuff. My Federal and Gemtec are both 45 as well I believe.

Even though my Ruger 10/22 is a 1 in 16, somehow it stabilizes the SSS ammo which is really quite.

Maybe an out of spec batch? Did you chrono it, by any chance, or are the figures as given on the box?
