For those interested in Service Rifle and Service Pistol competition, the Navy will be holding the Atlantic Fleet and All Navy Rifle & Pistol Championships at Marine Corps Base Quantico from 4-13 April, 2014. Service Pistol (M1911 or M9) is shot at 25 & 50 yards, one handed, iron sights. Service Rifle is shot at 200 (slow fire standing, rapid fire sitting), 300 (rapid fire prone) and 600 yards (slow fire prone) with the M1, M1A/M14, or M16/AR-15 with iron sights. The match program is at www.usnst.org, and online registration opens up February 2nd on the CMP website. The matches are open to both military and civilians, and there will be a total of 4 leg matches (non-military may only shoot one leg match in each discipline for record). Each discipline (rifle/pistol) will have a small arms firing school before competition, so don't worry about experience level or expertise. All of the details are in the match program, but if you have questions, you can post here or PM me.
