  • Posted this in C&R, figured you guys would like to see it as well. Picked this up last year from On Target. Was on consignment and got it for an absolute steal.
Original parts, nothing changed except for the repro sling.

Nice looking rifle and has a high enough number to not have to worry about all the dont shoot it stuff. I didnt even know they ell consignment stuff. I could have had that as i live 5 mins from there and pass it every day :sad20:

Nice M1903! I hope they didn't tell you it was completely, as-issued original as the handguard appears to be a convex replacement (possibly Booher) and the firing proof in the square is a rebuild mark

They do. It was on the wall next to the rifle rack. The wood stock caught my eye, then I got closer and BOING.

Apparently the guy comes in every few months or so with something to sell. He hasn't been back for a while though supposedly. I'm eagerly awaiting his return

I was drawn to it every time I went in to On Target and watched the asking price drop. Then one day it was gone. It was a gem and my wife thanks you for buying it before I did.

The year of manufacture for serial number 3210184 is 1941.

Remington 1903A3 production started in 1942 at number 3348086.

Seems it was rebarreled at some point. IIRC, 03 original barrels are typically dated a few month before the manufacture date of the rifle.

    Sweet looking rifle.

I pick up my 03 tomorrow. Still in cosmoline from CMP sale.

You weren't the one that kept saying "next week i'm gonna get it". I heard someone kept delaying getting it then died inside a little bit when it disappeared

I didn't say it out loud, but it called out to me every time I went in the store. I even fondled it a couple of times, but I resisted. I set a ridiculously low price that I would be willing to pay. Don't tell me what it finally went for. :sad20:

    Picked up mine.

1.1 million serial number, so 1919 production.

It has a replacement upper handguard. Not optimum, but it lends character. :)

    Not in this case..

IMHO..Remington 1903 (Not 03-A3) Serial # 3210184 was manufactured Aug/Sept 1942 and the barrel date is entirely consistent as to being original.
