    Testimony:

    It is my understanding that:
    * This bill will repeal the requirement that the Maryland State Police collect a fired shell casing from regulated firearms purchased in Maryland.
    * The shell casings currently being collected are not being used in any capacity.
    * The collected shell casings have helped to solve little to no crime.
    * The program to catalog these shell casings has been defunded.
    * The machinery to process these shell casings has been sold.
    * CA and NY had similar programs, both of which were halted due to their ineffectiveness in helping to solve crimes.

In light of all of these facts, I see no need to continue the practice of collecting these shell casings.

Please give this bill a Favorable report.

A vote against this bill is a vote in favor of more onerous restrictions on law-abiding gun owners which does nothing to keep the People of Maryland any safer.

Agreed. It was interesting to hear that other states had similar programs and had pulled them once they found out they were essentially worthless.

It was funny to hear someone giving testimony say ~"...I can't believe I am asking you to follow the lead of CA..." :)
