    Hi,
    Thanks for reading this post.

I am some what confused between reading the MD regulations for hunting and trapping and I am now being told be a friend, that there are county by county regulations also?

    My goal here is this.

I am desirous to hunt deer in Baltimore county on private property with a semi auto AR.

can some one or anyone tell me if this is allowed or not? because i can not figure out the details?

I searched BACO sites and found nothing of value.

    thank you for your help!

    Don

You can only hunt deer in Balto county with a slug gun or muzzleloader. You CAN hunt coyote and groundhog with your AR though. I wouldn't hunt foxes with it, the .223 round will probably leave too big an exit hole. You have to use hollowpoint or expanding soft point bullets. Slug gun is sabots or whatever the booklet lists. You can shoot pretty accurately with a slug gun to 100 yards, if you use the rifle barrel type, not firing slugs from a smoothbore shotgun. Since it's private land, you can use bait and attractants, so you can set up how close you want the deer to come in. I'd say 30 yards is pretty good. I had plenty of deer coming in at 30.

As mentioned, Muzzleloader during muzzleloader season
Shotgun/Slug Gun or Muzzleloader during Rifle season
NO CENTER FIRE RIFLE in Baltimore county even on private property

See the map at the end of the link below.
If you are going to hunt, you have to have a license and you should already have referenced this page:

Look through the md hunting guide and it lists clearly what you can and cannot do.....and deer hunting with a rifle in baltimore county is a no go. Also there is never sunday hunting in baltimore county.

I tried to convince the DNR that a Krag was an antique and therefore did not fall under rifle regulations.

    They didn't go for it.

    Damn breechloader rules.

    They are so damned unreasonable:lol2:

By the way, I think you can use a muzzle loader during shotgun season through out the state if you want. Something about a lesser weapon thing.
