I agree. Opinions offered by employees don't change a statute, which clear excepts Hunter Safety.

    i'm done with this thread.

Not trying to push any one instructor or class but my wife and I went through class and we took the utah concealed carry and also the Maryland hql class through Genesis with Perrin teaching it and that only thing we had to do extra was do the fingerprints through the Charles county sheriff's department. Filed in all the paperwork and sent it in. Make sure you dot your I'd and cross your t's. Sent everything in and in about two months later the permit showed up in the mail. Hope this helps.

Sure wish this post had been started a few months ago. I just went through this same exact scenario (nightmare) dealing with Florida.
I was told by a buddy that all I needed was a hunter safety course online and that would be accepted by Florida as my training requirement. I found one based in Texas that had no live shooting element. Well guess what? WRONG!

I just got my application package returned and DENIED. They told me that I must have a certificate that has the firearm instructors signature and his
certifying association’s identification number showing my competency with a firearm. So now I must start over. I am waiting for a call back to find out if I can just get someone to certify firearms competency or must I take a complete classroom course. This sucks. :mad54:

Email sent by me two weeks ago:

It is stated that a proper training requirement for application for a Florida non-resident CCW permit is:

    Any hunter education or hunter safety course approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or a similar agency in another state;

Does a Maryland Hunter’s Safety course qualify?

Thank you for your assistance in answering this question.

    Their reply:

    Hello,

Yes, we will accept your Hunter Safety training from Maryland.

    Thank you,

You will notice no asking by me about live fire and no specification by her requiring it. I'm submitting my application as soon as I get my fingerprints done.

BTW - who does ink rolled fingerprints anymore?

My TX hunter's safety cred is observed universally. I have a MD hunters license because of it. No live-fire, as the 6 hour course was taken online.

who knows but some folks won't admit their position isn't correct even when the plain wording of the statute says otherwise.

    oh well.

you made my point. Hunter safety is exempted. it's item one. the only courses requiring live fire are 3 and 7.
