I have carried a Benchmade Stryker 910-801 every day for the last 15 years and it is hands down the best made knife I've ever used. I've taken it on all my deployments and it's never let me down. It was a littel pricey when I bought it but more than paid for itself over the years. Benchmade's lifesharp program is also really great. I have been really pissed the two times I thought I lost it. It's a great piece of gear. Oh, and I recommend you skip the serrated blade, the plain edge is more than capable.

There are tons of great EDC blades on the market today. Prices ranging from $40 to $2000. At the end of the day, I feel like you need good edge retention and the knife needs to be aesthetically pleasing to you.

I recommend watching some of the knife reviewers on youtube.

I currently carry the SOG Aegis in ACU. Beautiful blade and very light. It cuts everything I need and SOG's have that deep carry clip.

My personal favorite is the Manix 2 series, fantastic ergonomics, strong, smooth BB lock, oversized spyderhole, great FFG leaf blade(avoid the earlier low grind blade), grippy G10 and strong skeletonized steel liners or tough and extremely light skeletonized FRN. Lots of options for size, color, and the epic S110V version. It costs a fraction of some of my other knives, but one version or another is in my pocket 90% of the time. The lock functions like an Axis lock, can be stiff when new, but is very strong and secure, also allows you to flip open the blade. The shape is comfortable and secure with a deep rear choil and guard to protect your fingers, or a front choil on the blade to give great control for detail cutting. There are a couple downsides, the knife is wide when folded, and takes a lot of pocket space. The front choil occupies near 1/2" of blade length, so the edge is shorter than some other knives of similar OAL. Not everyone likes the lock, it is stiffer and engages harder than the axis due to the coil spring, all pivots are adjustable, but the FRN model handles are riveted and can't be taken apart.

I agree with this totally, I was just scrolling tio the end hoping no one had said Manix 2 already, but you beat me to it! :mad54: hah.

But that really is a solid choice, with a great variety of aftermarket scales readily available.
