It does seem like Obama just picked a historical figure at random without doing much research.
I don't think Obama picked her although he certainly could have influenced. An online public vote was taken last year and Tubman won out of 5 others or so. The Secretary of the Treasury used that to make the decision. I think the Federal Reserve still has to officially approve he final design. not quite sure how that works. On another note, I'm sure there will be plenty of "Jacksons" around for quite some time.
i prefer the term "lend me a tubby."
