Are there overlaps in the occupation table? Doesn't appear to be the case. Those percentages and numbers don't work
    For example: 11,403 + 2,380 + 11,832 + 640 + 17 + 14,869 + 12,565 + 661 does not equal 39,498

Also, the data set is from 2006.

SNI - if you have a chance and can get updated numbers I will get them to Greg and the group to get the page updated. Sorry, I don't have time right now to look for them and parse them, as I am getting ready for a trade show out of town.

Did a cursory search and only data point I could find is that there are ~77,000 permits in Md issued as of 2012.

Is there a known source for this information or does it require a FOIA request to obtain this data?

I have no idea. I will check with Greg to see where the information came from (if he knows).

I believe it was Norton who obtained the information via PIA. If some people are interested in doing a PIA on updated info, please contact me or dblas.

Anyone file a PIA or get updated info?

I think we are still looking for someone to take lead on this.

MSI needs more member involvement. We have tons of people giving us really good ideas on things to do but we are still short on members willing to help bring those ideas to fruition.....it's just too much for our limited BOD

A PIA letter takes minutes to write and fax. Provide the very specific details/data we want and I will submit the request. There may be fees involved if the data we seek requires more than 2 hours of labor to put together. They can also charge a reasonable fee for copies/discs.

I was thinking about this again this weekend. I am willing to do a PIA. I just need to know specifically what to ask for:

    1. Current Permit Holders By Occupation (including race, sex?)
    2. How many applications were there in 2014?
    3. How many of those that applied in 2014 were declined?
    4. Of those declined, how many appealed?
    5. Of those that appealed, how many received a permit?
    6. How many people applied for renewal of their permit in 2014?
    7. Of those that applied for renewal, how many were declined?
    8. How many permits were issued without a fee?

Let me know if I missed anything.

Numbers 2 and 3, I'm wondering how this would apply to me or others in the same situation as me as I applied in 2012 and was finally denied in 2014.
I've got a thread about being denied.

I know you have #1 wondering occupation, but you could probably get a big chunk out of that by also asking How many were LEO's?

I doubt they will break it down, but some LEO issued permits could be actually job related for undercover officers. So those may or may not be mixed within that response.
