      Questions on inheriting a firearm

An acquaintance of mine was left a handgun when his stepfather passed back in 2006 and has recently started wondering if there was any process for the legal transfer that was supposed to have occurred that no one thought to mention. It's been locked away the last 9 years and never fired by my...

      Gunsmiths in the area

The last time I looked into this was some years ago before some people left the area. And while I do know of some quality smiths a few counties over, I'm hoping there's a quality gunsmith more local for a 1911 trigger job.

So where do those fired shell casings come from?

So after two years or so away from shooting (and the forum really), I finally have funds (and hopefully time) to pick up some things I had my eyes on before finances forced a break. I was looking at gunbroker when I remembered that we have that new shell casing requirement on new handguns...

AK-47 questions from a new owner

Any instructions on how to sight one in? I want to do this tomorrow and not at the shoot. Also, I've noticed when the safety is on, I can still depress the trigger (unloaded rifle during this check of course) and the hammer will activate. Is this normal? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be...

Sources for 30 round AK mags in VA?

Annoyingly enough, the time available for me to actually try to pick some up is also going to be the time where there's a mad rush for them. But still want to pick them up of course. Due to my normal weekend schedule, making a gun show down in VA is very hard to do so I was wondering if...

The joys of sighting in an AR-15

As I mentioned in another post, zeroing in a rifle can be an annoying affair for me. I haven't done it with glass, which would probably go smoother given my eyesight (my prescription isn't full strength since the jump up from my last one would have been overwhelming), but I've now had the...

      Teach me about Mosin-Nagants

Figure that every C&R holder has to have one of these. However, I'm somewhat confused about the different models/versions available. Anyone that can give me a run down about them?

      Gunsmiths for a 1911

I know I've asked a similar question in the past, but we've had some new blood since the last time so . . . After swapping out the ILS Mainspring Housing on my Springfield Armory 1911, the last thing on my to do list is to get the trigger pull to something not ridiculous. If it's far enough...

      Finding Commie Calibers in MoCo

So I know I'm not the only one with weapons that eat ye olde Warsaw Pact ammo in Montgomery County and I'm wondering where others pick up their Makarov and 7.62 x 39. As far as I can tell, Dick's doesn't have any visible on the shelves (note that even with glasses, my eyesight isn't so hot) so...

      10/22 pin removal

I've been trying to remove the receiver pins on my 10/22 but they don't seem to feel like obliging to taps with a rubber mallet and pin punch. Is there any trick to this, or is it just Ruger using a gorilla to put things together tightly at the factory?

      CZ-82 Impressions

I'll get some pics up later. For now I'll open with saying that this is easily a contender for the best $200~ dollars I've spent. I got mine from SOG and paid the extra for handpicking, received it on Friday, cleaned off the storage grease that night, and took it to the range yesterday. I...

      Gunsmiths in the area

Since the Rhines have presumably moved by now and my 1911 needs some trigger work, I'm wondering what other gunsmiths are in the area that people can recommend.

      Filling out the bound book

So I finally made my first C&R purchases a short while ago and my CZ-82 arrived from SOG today. I'm a little unsure of what I need to fill out in a bound book page. I'm using the template from http://www.surplusrifle.com/graphics/boundbookpage.pdf Would the Manufacturer/importer be the...

      EOTech 512 battery compartment

How the heck do you get this battery compartment off? The pictures in the pamphlet aren't that helpful for anyone beyond lifting the cam lever.

      Notaries?

I've filled out my designated collector form and just need to get it notarized before sending it. Anyone know of a good place to do this in in my area?

      4/5: Whatcha bringing/want to see?

Since we don't seem to have one in preparation for the weekend, I figured I'd start one. I'll likely be there closer to noon than 9 AM, but I'm planning on bringing my AR-15 and CZ-452 currently. I'm hoping to try out someone's AR-15 with an EOtech on it to make sure it looks right when I'm...

      C&R application form questions

Almost done with these things, but two things confuse me a bit. First, question 10, which deals with non-resident aliens. Am I supposed to touch this? The link in other threads has said to fill out 10A, so I assume I should go ahead but I wanted to make sure since it doesn't make it sound...

AR-15 Build 2: The EBR Returns

Time to figure out what I want to do with the new engraved lower. My first one was used to build an M4gery. This one I want to be the more accurate brother. I know that I'll put in a two stage trigger and use an A2 stock for this one, but I'm not sure which style of upper to put on. It...

      Teach me about AKs!

I'm planning on adding a 7.62 x 39 rifle to my collection in the near future, so I'm starting to do my research now. However, the wide number of countries that have made AK-47s, AKMs, etc. is staggering so I'm trying to get a handle on what's considered a good purchase.

Need a range to zero an AR-15

The ranges I normally hit are indoor ranges and don't go quite far enough to do the improved battle sight zero I want to do with mine. I'm also somewhat horrible at eyeing distance so I hold no hope of guessing where the 50 m mark on a range will be. So, what's a good place for a rifle...
