I'd like to agree with you. But I've learned not to underestimate the buying power of anger and anxiety. Whatever, bring it- if teh big fear happens again, it'll give me a chance to sell of some of the stupid knee jerk stuff I got in the last big fear.
But damnit, I do still miss not getting...
Haven’t seen an M9-22 yet. It could be a perfectly great pistol. But I haven't yet seen a dedicated 22 look alike version of a service pistol that I've been impressed with.
Beretta's 22 conversion for the M9/92 on the other hand really is terrific. Expensive, yes. But it is the best service...
In a defensive situation, you will likely be just as inaccurate with a 22 as you would be with a larger caliber- unless you're the guy who does get attacked by paper targets.
That said, the weapon you practice most with will be a better option- even if it makes a smaller bang than something...
With the 20" rifle length sight radius of a dissipator, the F FSB is not as important as on a 14" carbine length sight radius. I have a 20" barrel on a flat top upper with a non-F FSB, and the rifle zeros at 25yds with no trouble. YMMV, but I would guess that the Windham barrel assembly will...
That's it exactly. You can use a little CLP as you do it, but it's not critical. Clean out any crap that you free up, then install the spring and plunger.
The trigger guard is supposed to be movable, so you can open it downwards and use the rifle with gloves. Astonishingly few ARs are ever...
That sounds pretty hopeful, Mike.
Definitely interested. Would do it at AGC, would do it at Berwyn. I mean to get out to Thurmont and give it a try, but haven't yet.
No.
Crazy glue (or any other cyanoacrylate adhesive) is not going to hold metal to metal. It may sit in place for a while, but as soon as you fire the gun the part is gone.
You might have better luck with epoxy (jb weld or similar), but again luck is the operative word. Sooner or later the...
If you want to shoot at AGC, the path of least resistance is Baltimore Rifle Club. Where as most others are actual clubs with meetings and activities and the like, BRC exists just so people can get ranges badges. (They have one meeting per year- to get next years range badge.)
People often join...
Another vote for Appleseed.
He (and you) will learn a great deal about rifle shooting- including what to practice, how, and why. If he enjoys it, Appleseed is a fantastic introduction to high power, service rifle, or small bore position shooting. And you cannot beat the price.
AAF&G is...
This.
Appleseed addresses, before lunch on the first day:
-What is good performance with/from a rifle?
-How is this performance defined and measured?
-How much of that is shooter, and how much is equipment?
-What is the practical application of being able to shoot at this level of performance...
Is it ok not to love the Mini 14?
Sure it's fine, nothing wrong with it. I got one because the getting was good. But every time I've shot it, I've felt like there are other guns that I would rather have put that ammo through.
And I can't convince myself it's an M14. :sad20:
