Many years ago, when the CMP was ‘The DCM’, I got an M1 Garand ($165).
I contacted NRA Competition Division, requesting loading data for the Garand.
They replied with several loads, including 150 and 168 gr bullets.
One ‘frequently used’ load consisted of Win 748 and Sierra 168 gr MatchKing...
Just seeing this.
Contacted my oldest son, who just took possession of a new 28' camper.
He and his wife called over 35 places, to find a spot for their camper, and the only one that had ANY room, was, Aaron's Boat and RV, in Pasadena.
$100.00/month.
He just said that he doesn't know IF they...
If loading mild loads for use in a .357 revolver, use .357 brass.
After a friend and I went to the range, his DW mdl 15-2 had soooooo much lead build up in the chambers, he had to use a cleaning rod chucked in a drill, along with an undersize (used) bore brush with a piece of "Chore Boy" and...
I was in the Jury Pool, when that trial was brought down here, from PG Co.
There were Deputies from Charles and PG County, as well as U.S. Marshal's Service, in La Plata.
Most were armed with full-auto weapons, and several snipers were on the roof (and in/on top of adjacent buildings) around...
I got REALLY lucky, when I bought my first AR. A Colt R6601 Sporter Match Target (pre-Klinton Ban).
20" 1:7 twist.
Stumbled onto a load that has been accurate, no, VERY accurate, in every rifle that it's been shot in. My AR(s) and several others, and some bolt guns, too.
(One guy at my...
I'd love to have an AutoMag in .44 AutoMag.
Back in '79, when I bought my first revolver (S&W mdl 19-4) RealCo Guns (District Heights) had both an AutoMag and a GyroJet in their case.
The money wasn't bad, for each, it's just that they weren't practical.
IF I had been smart, I would've...
Go with .45-70 Government. (It's the ONLY Government that I truly trust!)
From 'mild to wild', the .45-70 can do it (and has done it)!!!
A 405 gr WLNGC boolit, lumbering along at 1600+/- fps will knock a deer on his butt, easily.
Very accurate. Easy on the shoulder. The .45-70 is my...
Cast Performance 405 gr WLNGC and Reloader 7 powder, right at 1600 fps.
The only game I've taken with this load, was a 350+ lb wild hog.
Shot it at about 25 yards.
"Boom! Thump."
Shot it right above the right shoulder, and the heart and both lungs were pulverized.
It did not take one step.
Tell your friend to clean the cosmoline out of that rifle and shoot it!
Here's a pic of one of my K98k rifles. (byf 43)
The stock was BLACK when I got it. The BLACK was oil and grease in the wood.
A paste, made with denatured alcohol and "Whiting" (from Brownell's) applied several times...
After seeing price(s) of some .45-70 leverguns lately, I've thought about selling all of mine.
Heck. I could almost pay half of my new mortgage selling them, and the Shiloh Sharps would pay it off!
:lol2:
Insanity. Just....... insanity.
I've had a 44VH-8 for many years. I bought the VH-4 ported barrel/shroud and used that set-up to harvest a 265 lb wild boar (at 7 feet!) in Tennessee, in '94.
I'm going to complete the 'pack' shortly.
My DW 44VH-4 beside my S&W mdl 60 Ladysmith
Check CZ's website for the barrel wrench. They have them, from time-to-time.
.44 and other large frame are in stock. .357.............. I don't see it.

The 'hitch hauler' I bought for my truck ('11 RAM) sits right where the exhaust pipes dump hot exhaust.
When I put the extra large cooler on the 'hauler' heat/exhaust dumps right on the cooler.
I tried to get some ducts/exhaust tips that were 45* or 90* to deflect the heat.
No joy.
We saw an...
OP -
A very good friend of mine, got a 'wild hair' and took his early stainless DW in .41 magnum to Green Top Hunt/Fish and sold it.
It was a VH-8, with DW's "Zebrawood" grips.
They gave him $900.00 cash for it.
This was about 6 months ago.
(I told him that he was "STOOPID" for...
I'm free every day.
I'm retired. I have 6 Saturdays, and 1 Sunday.
Since our last "PM", I've put the primers back in the loading room, and have packed all of my reloading gear, preparing to Settle on a new home, and moving.
IF squaregrouper wants/can make a trade with you, go for it.
Wasn't too hard to meet up.
I wanted to meet up earlier in the day, not mid afternoon, especially when I was driving 55+ miles to meet up. (Over 1 hour drive time, each way.)
There was never any discussion about meeting closer to me, or anytime other than 1:30 p.m., on Sunday(s).
