      Question on eye-dominance

I'm an instructor and can tell you that most people who are cross dominant will be better off shooting on their eye dominant side. There are exceptions and it will take some getting used to, but he'll probably be better off in the end, especially with shotguns. If he just can't stand shooting...

Yes, we just require the certifications, not that you go through our program. Thanks, Paul

Part-Time Jobs at the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore

Hi all, I have a few positions to fill at the AGC in Marriottsville. These jobs can be filled by one person, two, or even three or more depending on the skill set of the applicant. The first position is a part-time Range Safety Officer. Certification is not required as we offer all...

1 every 30 days or 2 every 60 days. Regulated purchase

The MSP is supposed to check, but so is the dealer. Go to MDSP's website, Licensing Division, Firearms, Regulated Firearms Dealers, and scroll to the bottom of the page. There are pdfs of the last three year's of seminars. Check out 2014. I have no doubt all of the FFLs you've dealt with...

      Incompetent MSP in transfer

Hmm. There is a whole lot of something going around. I've sold several handguns to friends and just use my local (Jessup) barracks to do the transfers. There is no requirement that the gun already be registered. Anyone could have acquired the gun outside of Maryland in actual America. A FFL...

1 every 30 days or 2 every 60 days. Regulated purchase

Both firearms have to be part of the same 77R, so same dealer. However, as someone else mentioned, the 77R is just the background check. At any time before the firearm leaves the store, the dealer can change the firearm or add another to it, we just have to update the MSP with the info on the...

1 every 30 days or 2 every 60 days. Regulated purchase

According to the MDSP's 2014 Dealer Seminar, the dealer must see the actual Designated Collector Letter on official MDSP letterhead. This was news to all 100+ dealers in the room as we'd all just been accepting the customer's word for it.

      AGC Random Range Closures

Yup, when she's wet we will work the bottom. When she's dry we'll take the cover off the mounds and work them real well so she gives us what we want. This post is strictly about lead reclamation. Nothing to read into here so just move along.

      Outdoor shooting ranges near Baltimore?

The AGC is the place to be! Join a club, do the safety orientation, buy you range badge. Right now they are only $75. That is good through January.

      Good range time at AGC

I'm glad you had a great time. The AGC has made some great strides to become the preeminent range in the mid-Atlantic. We are fixing the ranges up, focusing our staff on customer service, and we will be bringing more fun ways to shoot. We still hope to bring 5-Stand and Action Pistol and...

      new policies at AGC?

The RSOs are allowed to carry if they legally can and can pass the non-security guard Wear and Carry course. The one you have been seeing is a MD Licensed Handgun Instructor. His name is Jim and he is a great guy. Another RSO, Jeff, is a MD State Park Police Officer. He is also an instructor...

      Photos at AGC

It can be a huge problem. You want to make sure you are only taking pics of your guests and have no one else in the picture. They take it very seriously as technically you need permission first. You most likely won't get hassled if you do it quickly.

      Maryland Handgun Roster Board Meetings?

Submissions are easy. A short form to fill out and send with the pistol. They examine it and return it. Some take longer than others. This last round (for the roster effective yesterday) took over three months. We put the Sig M400 on there, got the Rhino on last year, and now have a Boberg...

      Carry permit renewal

You could always open a gun shop. My restrictions say the same as above with one important difference. Mine uses the word firearm as well as cash. As long as I'm carrying a gun I'm allowed to have a gun to protect my gun that I'm carrying. Whew! The perfect circle of logic. Paul

      Question regarding 7-day waiting period

The law is that we can release on the 7th day which many people noted would be buy on Friday, pick up the following Friday. (Providing your application was faxed on the day of purchase). The problem is that the licensing division (the folks that issue our dealer licenses) Say different things...
