Hey guys,
I understand that MD laws prohibit the CC of gravity knives and switchblades. Technically, a spring-assisted knife is different, but has anyone ran into problems with law enforcement over one of these?
I think this is a combination of urbanization (an especially strong trend with young people) and the fact that the older guys that used to hunt got out of the habit due to family, obligations, etc. For example, my father used to hunt but hasn't done so in the 25 years since I was born.
So...
Thanks guys. I was mostly worried that there was some absurd law that mandated a recent out of state certification.
Has anyone gotten a "group furbearer permit"? I'd like to take my girlfriend, who is a VA resident, and am unsure what this would allow. She'd still need an out of state hunting...
Well, I got the field to accept my 2001 date. It doesn't allow free text but I was able to choose 2003 from the list and then scroll over 16 months using their by-month directional button.
I've ran into a bigger problem though: the online form requires a "certification number." My SC DNR cert...
Hey guys,
I'm trying to get my hunting license here in MD. My South Carolina hunter safety certificate was awarded back in 2001 and is still valid of course. However, on DNR's compass portal, the 'date issued' field will only let me go as far back as 2003. Does the law require a hunter/safety...
Does anyone have an idea where in Frederick Watershed would offer the best chance to find them? According to this map, there's a fair amount of space, and my guess is that much of it is densely wooded.

To clarify, I know the furbearer permit is needed, but i don't want to make the assumption that no actual license is needed.
I've never hunted varmint, and I'd like to take my new AR-15 (and a caller) to try my luck with the coyotes.
Is a hunting license required to hunt either coyotes or foxes in MD? I know in VA none is needed for yotes.
I'm thinking about heading to the Frederick Watershed some night to look for coyote. Are there any restrictions as far as ammo/type of firearm? I know we can't hunt anything on Sundays...
I picked up my rifle and am now a happy man! It's my first AR so I've enjoyed figuring out the functionality and operation. Hope to take it to the range soon.
My FFL was great throughout the whole process; I was worried when 10/1 came and went but they worked with me and released on the 8th day.
OP,
Your FFL will be your best resource here; they are the ones that will be submitting the application to MSP anyways. There was an email sent out by some MSP brass to FFLs in the last few days that addressed this situation, with the message essentially being that there is no training...
I don't see it as anything personal. However, I'm highly unlikely to do business with them in the future (as a likely VA resident) since they concluded business with me as an MD resident.
My FFL got what they wanted in writing (just confirmation I guess) so I was able to go get my paperwork done last night.
The 8 day countdown has officially begun for me!
Ha thanks. I think quickly moving to Virginia is a better option ;)
Actually, I've been considering the move for a while but I really like my living situation here (oppressive government aside).
