THE STOPPING POWER OF DIFFERENT HANDGUN CARTRIDGES

It all depends on how you do it, but you might like to know that putting the tinder underneath some hefty chicken wire helps prevent it blowing all over the place while still letting air in. :innocent0

      Shipping a Rifle?

I recently picked up a 10/22, which would normally be that start of cheap fun. No such luck for me, because it's broken and has to go back to Ruger. Like the paragon of wisdom that I am, I decided that I'd go ahead and get rid of the box that it came in. So, knowledgeable folks that you are...

armed protestor at town hall meeting in NH

I don't mean to belittle the rest of your point, but I did trim it a bit for brevity as I'm just going to address one thing here: I don't believe that it's disrespectful to the presidency to exercise rights acknowledged in the same document that grants the president his powers. The act...

      Yugo Mauser 8mm

I'm probably off the main stream with this one, but I happen to enjoy the de-cosmo process, particularly when the gun is obviously "used". I really appreciate taking the time out to clean up a piece of history, and it comes with the added bonus of getting a thorough introduction to a new friend.

      Lost my knife

I also carry a fountain pen, which I've uncapped while delivering that line. Y'know...now that you mention it... That's really happened to me too many times. I used to just clip the knife in my pocket but it's for this very reason that I now carry the knife securely clipped to my belt if...

Handgun -Safe BioMetrx / Gun Vault ?

Plain old cotton works fine, terry cloth towel if you're fancy, t-shirt if you're me.

Right to Carry legislation being voted upon soon

:sad20: Senator Lautenberg was yakking about how it's odd that Senator Thune supports this one because it violates states' rights, as well. What a crock of crap. Take a look at bills with the name "Feinstein" on 'em and how respectful they are of the states. I'm not surprised, but still it's...

      Lost my knife

Any time I whip out the knife at work (Leatherman e307x, discontinued though), HR lady comes by and semi-seriously tells me that I'm not allowed to carry weapons at work. If you're reading this thread, you very likely look at this tool and don't see a weapon. I sure don't. It's definitely not a...

Handgun -Safe BioMetrx / Gun Vault ?

I've seen this as well, but under less heavy use it should be much less of an issue. Also be sure to clean your fingers, since a shweaty fingertip can also make the sensor fail to read. It's just another thing to practice and get 100% reliable before you bet your life on it.

      New-ish range policy?

Does having your own gun with you at the time not solve this problem?

      Silencers: Yes or No?

Use Subsonic ammo. I my experience, no. More of a loud "Fssht!" from an AR, which is what I assume you're thinking of here. Something like a supressed .22 pistol or a rifle platfrom built to be quiet is just creepy. With ears on, all you hear is the target hit.

      .327 Magnum in 1895 Nagant

And even if it does work, think about what kind of damage you're doing to the gun with every shot. Even if it works on the first shot, I'm not sure the metal would hold up over repeated stress.
