E-form 4 individual looking like approximately 6 months (188-193 days depending on the source). Is this what folks are experiencing now? If so, that’s not too bad, comparatively speaking.

My eform 4 from 1/26/23 is still in process. I called this week and it’s finally made it to the background check phase. Longest I have ever waited for a can.

What are they searching that isn't in the NICS search? I never understood why it takes that long.
Nothing- I believe it's large numbers of applications, a short number of BATFE folks doing the actual processing.

Call your congress critter about this. Trust me....
I just emailed NICS last week and got a response the next day saying their part is done and it's been sent to the ATF.

I also contacted my congressman and got a message back today saying they contacted the ATF and are awaiting a response.

Waiting to see what happens. I submitted Form 4s on 12/22/23 and 12/27/23. I've seen quite a few people on Reddit post very short approval dates within a few days or weeks. many of them were in Jan and Feb of this year.

Wait, people are freaking out and contacting their congressman after only a paltry 30 day wait? Most people over the last couple years have waited an average of about a year, sometimes way longer, and you’re sweating 30 days? What’s amazing is that this tactic actually worked!

About a year ago when ATF promised they’d get the E-form 4’s down to about 90 days we all were ecstatic, my last two were about 120-ish, but way better than 365-400. If we’re getting down to 30 day turnarounds, it would be fantastic. But writing to a congressman after only 30 days, maybe the NFA game isn’t for you. You gotta know what you’re getting into before you head into it.

And yes, I’m just jealous. Congrats to those that got turned around so quickly.

    I’m assuming they meant 2022, not 2023.

I first thought that too, but read the part about the guys reading on Reddit about quick turnaround times. I hope those that posted this is able to clarify, it certainly is puzzling.

13-14 months, yeah - big problem. 30 days to worrying and complaining, just a whiner IMHO, get over it.

I’m not really sure tbh. Just doesn’t sound kosher. If I can expect a 30-40 day approval, I’m jumping back into the NFA pool. After my last one (6th overall) I swore I’d never go back into that mess. With faster turnarounds, I think I need dedicated 338 Lapua, and 50 Beowulf cans.
