I don't do well with turbulence, cramped airplanes, New York, or New Jersey. But I sincerely appreciate people who do!

Required to live near the base ?

Newark blows, lots of good places within commuting range to EWR, some even in PA.

No requirement, just need to be able to be there on time and make it to the office on training days and office days.
You do sign a mobility agreement. That being said, I've never known any one to be moved involuntarily to another office, aside from smaller office closures.

    What's pay like?

Newbies will most likely start out at about 60k or so. That's made up between salary, locality pay and LEAP. LEAP is an extra 25% salary. Since there is a very tight tolerance on OT, basically get paid for 50 hours. Too complicated to explain OT (FLSA).
And probably on average will make 11-13k a year in per diem from travel.

Ok, so the job posting for .gov employees hits tomorrow the 4th and others on the 11th. Runs through the 19th. Again, for NYC and Newark offices. Don't apply thinking you'd work there and put in for a transfer because that WON'T happen.

You're over 37 hoss, so no worry for you :) New kid with a degree right out of college pulling down 60k plus, well thats a hell of a raise.
I could be way off that that guesstimate. I just know that they won't be on the fast track to much more as fast we did early on.

What airline are you flying these days? I haven't seen too many cute flight attendants in the last few years. Mostly 50 year old hogs. :(
Ain't this the truth. They are mostly 40+, way too much makeup and botox and think they are hot shit world travelers. I deal with flight attendants every day and 1 out of every 20 might be a 7.
