Commute from Pennsylvania IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!

Extremely quick synopsis: (others will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong):

    1. Handguns and grandfathered banned rifles (#2) must be registered within 90 days if you're establishing residency.

    2. Only banned firearms owned before 10/1/2013 may be brought into the state. Must be registered.
    AR15 non-HBAR / AK47 / others are now banned
AR15 HBAR is NOT banned - yes, this is Maryland - check logic at the border.
    AR10 is NOT banned
    AR15 pistons are NOT banned
Non-banned long guns do NOT have to be registered.

There's a list of banned firearms about somewhere.

    3. Good luck getting any type of carry permit.

    4. Don't know Baltimore specific laws about open carry, but for the rest of Maryland - DON'T DO IT!

If you're stupid enough, open carry of LONG GUN ONLY without permit.
If you are stupid enough to try open carry of long gun, expect to be arrested even though its (supposedly) legal.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CC OR OPEN CARRY HANDGUN WITHOUT PERMIT.

    5. Transport laws are draconian - to gun smith, to range. That's about it.

    6. Don't attempt to mail magazines to yourself if they hold more than 10 rounds.

You may bring standard capacity magazines (greater than 10 rounds) into Maryland if the magazines are in your possession when entering. Possession is NOT banned. Buying, selling, offering for sell, receiving IS banned.

We all go to PA, DE, WV, VA to buy standard capacity magazines, including AR15 and handgun magazines. As long as you buy or receive them OUT OF STATE and bring them back already in your possession, you are good to go.

    7. You'll need an HQL to buy handguns, excepts those classified as C&R. Fill out forms (77R) and wait 7 days. No more than 1 handgun every 30 days unless you have Designated Collector letter.

Stripped AR15 lowers fall into this category BUT you don't need HQL for them but do need the 77R form. You can build it into either a pistol (not HQL since you're building it) OR an HBAR AR15. Anything other than an pistol, HBAR, or piston AR15 is ILLEGAL to build.

And get this - if its not 223/556 caliber, its LEGAL (9mm, 300 blackout, etc. good to go)
[See, I told you to check logic at the border :D]

    8. If you have your C&R, handguns bought out-of-state can be shipped directly to your door, no HQL, registration, or 7-day wait is needed.

    9. Lots of DNR rules if you're a hunter. Central Maryland will require shotgun / bow for deer. Western counties allow rifle for deer. If you're lucky enough, you might draw a black bear tag.

    10. When going to out-of-state gun shows, expect to be snobbed. There are some IP's here (vendors) from out-of-state that actually know Maryland law and will sell legal long guns to us subjects.

    No.. I had cautious optimism.

I would've bet money you were trolling. Guns & Ammo ranked (from best to worst) MD as #44.

The bad news about living in PA is MD has the longest commuting times in the nation and the 4th worst state for drivers (insurance, theft, repair cost and commute)

    Welcome.

Our gun laws do suck, but if you learn them and all the inconsistencies, contradictions and COMAR interpretations ; you can manage. Carry permits are VERY difficult to get, but possible if you work with the system.

Larry Hogan (our governor), is doing better (cancer); he's really helping to turn things around in Maryland. He's not really a gun guy, but he's not letting any more stupid laws through on his watch.

Come to Maryland and help make it a better place.

Welcome, forgot that if you are a Veteran/Active Duty/ Reserve? with valid ID Card you don't need to apply for an HQL but still have to go through the wait...

Oh an SBR in MD is 29" Total Length with Barrel under 16" and not under 26" like the Federal Law...

Maryland limits your possession of some really nice weaponry. It sucks for some of us Newbies here...

Only the 223/556 needs to be an HBAR config...

    Yikes.

    Welcome.

You drew short straw or what??

Food's good. Some quality folks. Some stone cold nit wits. Liberals out the arse. Gun laws are atrocious.

I left as soon as I had a chance. Good place to stay employed. Bad place for taxes. Drivers suck out loud. Traffic is awful. ...did I mention that food is good??

Enjoy your stay on the forum and in MD.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner, Ding, Ding, Ding...

    That is the right answer...

A better answer is to find another job & stay OUT of Bodymore, it's simply NOT safe to work or live, this is NOT a JOKE...

BEWARE, dead body count is currently over 300 as of 11/17
