And it got us what? We were crapped on big time; the Dems are still laughing. I'd like to be more positive, but it ain't gonna happen in our lifetimes. This state is evil personified. It harbors the Illegals and allows criminals to run roughshod, and then slaps their wrists when they do prosecute.

The best we can hope for is that Larry appoints a head of the MSP and gives him/her orders to abandon G&S.

FFLs are fleeing or shuttering their operations in alarming numbers. James River Armory, per posts here, is next up in May 2014. Mark is a good man but when the stuff he manufactures is banned, one can't survive. If he moves to SC, he's made a fine choice. Good luck, Mark!

And I thank you for your input as well.

We have proven change is possible, however incrementally. The shuttering of businesses is not our fault. The restoration of our Right will be. Feel free to work for it.... or not.

    Still moving forward.

The Governor cannot advise the Superintendent to "abandon" G&S since that would require legislation. What he can do (and what I think you meant) is for the Superintendent to further define G&S.

Crapped on big time yesterday? Did you happen to see something we didn't? Please share...

Deep? You had 200 people show up for a rally that was planned months ago. I wouldn't call that deep..I would call it pathetic. 200 people in a state with 6 million..I can hear the liberals chuckling to themselves from here..

Well, the Lib/Prog professional antis could only muster what, a half dozen at most?

    This thread reeks of defeatists.

There is a bit of it in a few other threads as well - but they are a very small minority. I suppose for some it's easier just to sit back, be negative and complain. I don't have a problem with the folks that stay home because of the weather, or have to work or whatever, but why a handful of folks feel compelled to spew their negativity here is beyond me. It's almost as if they are willing to abandon their rights just to be proven correct? Some claim they are just being realistic, but I agree they sound like defeatists.

I think deep down they are still in the game, but their optimism is just covered with a layer of frustration. The national tide is clearly flowing in our direction, and one way or another Maryland will follow. Remember how bad gambling was supposed to be just a few years ago? Then when the time was right and public opinion pressure mounted even the libs stumbled over themselves to get in the game. Above all politicians want to stay in power and nothing gets their attention better than a threat to their tenure, and a court order here or there can't hurt.

Actually, in 2013 we did a LOT more than people realize. Get the initial version of SB281 and compare it to the final version. In the initial version we had mandatory registration and a true AWB ban. Those are just a couple of things. Yes, it is still a steaming pile. Nobody argues that. Go to your LGS and check out the goodies there which are still MD legal. If we didn't fight, we would all be looking at tactical lever actions.....

The fact is that if we had done nothing in 2013 and just the mental health portion had stayed in tact, most of us here would likely be declared far too nuts to own firearms. Heaven help you if you had a PBJ for anything. If you dont think we made a difference, you are misinformed. If we don't push back, the antis can and will take free rein.

Trouble is there is a PILE of money to be made from running a gambling house, so your "bought and paid for" pols will just follow the scent. Public opinion was bought too; with public service commercials and such. You don't have that kind of money behind 2A rights, but you do behind disarmists.

We have to keep fighting both smarter and harder to prevail.

I agree with you, it was just an example of how legislators can jump sides when it seems to benefit them. Make anti self-defense an anchor you can hang around their collective necks and you will get a few converts - maybe enough.

I do have a gut feeling that we will get a couple things through, and maybe even passed in the House. The antis are throwing some bones, and I'm guessing they may even think that if we get something like shell casings and bore locks, we might back off.

This isn't 2008 any more, Dear Legislators. Soon enough, it will be time to meet America.

The idea that they jumped sides on the casino legislation is far from true. They voted the way the party told them to when Ehrlich was in office and they again voted the party line when MOM asked for slots. No jumping ship was involved.

Yeah, I was in the defeatist camp a while ago in 2013 and I was actually at the rally in 2013 when there was a ton of people there. It was depressing to show up at other 2A Maryland meetings where all of 25 people showed up.

These events need to get to the point where they are somewhat social in nature. Where people are showing up for more than just 2A Tuesday where there is no significant legislation being proposed. We see what can happen when there is a threat to the 2nd Amendment (i.e., 3,000+ show up and a lot of them stay until midnight). However, when a new Republican Governor is elected and there is nothing out there truly threatening to the 2nd Amendment in Maryland, people get complacent.

Heck, just today it looks like Dumais introduced a bill that is actually favorable to us. Hoping MSI had something to do with this since dblas was the first to link it.

Sometimes, speaking with one's wallet is better than speaking with one's presence. Donating to 2A Organizations in Maryland, supporting your LGS, and supporting the shooting sports in Maryland (whether it is self defense, competition, hunting) is the way to be proactive in this matter.

Me, I had planned on coming down for 2A Tuesday and bringing my dad along too. The cold nixed bringing my dad because he is on blood thinner and gets cold too easily. Then, a call from a client the night before nixed me coming down. Thing is, I heard that MSI had a great turnout at the general meeting in January where Jack McCauley was the speaker.

Wars are not won a single battle at a time, but over a long campaign. Just have to make sure that a lost battle here and there does not destroy the morale completely.

Me, I bought two lowers today from my LGS.

Yeah, what was proposed in 2013 and what ended up getting passed is night and day. We got FSA2013 LITE. When the initial bill was proposed, I was looking at property in Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Richmond, and North Carolina.

Okay, so they didn't jump ship just the entire party did. My point was they will vote however it is necessarry to stay in office. Threaten their tenure and watch how fast they become enlightened.
