I think i may be taking a trip out there next week.. they have a few to choose from including a CZ swap barrel 17\22..forgot to ask prices..dang it.
That would be the CZ 455. Barrels are available in .22 LR, .22mag, .17HMR and I think .17HM2 now. Less than $500 and barrels are about $80-$100. They come in many configurations, American, Full Stock, Varmint etc. If you can find a factory set of 2-3 calibers that's your best buy.

Sorry OP I'm gonna hijack your thread for just a second, in the search if knowledge. So why should anyone even bother getting a gun in this caliber over a .22lr? Love my ruger 10/22 and its always a pleasure to shoot. What does the .17 hmr offer that a .22 LR doesn't? Not looking to incite a flame war. I am just curious if it would be really worth a purchase ( for me) in the future. Thanks guys.

Much better accuracy, better distance and better on ground hogs for starters. If you want to eat tree rats or rabbits you'll need a head shot though or you'll destroy too much meat.

Distance, mostly. 17 is a flatter shooter, too.

Because it is the best round I've ever owned for playing cheap paper sniper or taking the heads off squirrels at 100+ yards.

I originally went shopping 9 years ago for a .22LR rifle and wound up coming home with this fancy Savage 93R17 instead. Never regretted the purchase. The thing is an absolute tack driver. People shoot it and always want to take it home.

I have several sub-MOA rifles but nothing matches this thing for accuracy.

.17MHR is flatter and faster than .22LR. The high-pitched snap of the round will turn heads from people expecting the lower pitch of the .22LR.

I am interested in a CZ 455 too. Buy a couple extra barrels and shoot all the rimfire rounds! What would you recommend in scope power to get full benefit of the .17 HMR? 15X or higher?

15 to 18 would be good. It makes a small hole so if you are target shooting 18-24. Most people with CZ's don't want too large a scope as it just doesn't look good on them. There is a wealth of info on rimfirecentral in the CZ section. The most knowledgeable and helpful people out there. Check it out. IF you go there feel free to ask anything and be sure to check out the stickers at the top of the forum.

I was looking at the Savage 93 when the .17WSM round came out. I bought a first gen BMag and was less than enthused. Sent it back to Savage and after a 7 month wait, they replaced it with the stainless heavy barrel - night and day! Now that Hornady is getting into the .17WSM market, I expect to see a few more gun makers get on the bandwagon. Ruger? S&W?

I may still pick up a .17HMR if ammo becomes an availability issue and the 93 would be my choice.

Now if someone would just make a .17 WSM or HMR semi auto pistol.....I would actually get my HQL for one of those!

I have a Marlin 917VS and I love it! I'm using a BSA Sweet 17 scope and it does the job. I drilled a groundhog this summer at 215 yards. I didn't realize he was that far away until I had to hike out and finish him off. I ranged it from where he was back to my shooting position. At that distance the round doesn't have a lot of energy left but it put him down. Definitely worth the money.

Love my Savage in .17 HMR and actually have a Taurus revolver as well.

Nice caliber, insanely accurate, very sensitive to wind. Favorite for turkey season (yes its easier than picking buckshot out!)

Though I do worry about the future of this caliber and you can almost shoot .223 for the same $
