More details will follow later, this much we know for sure:

Major MDShooters event on Tuesday, October 21st at the new brewery in Laurel called "Jail Break" after work, 5-8pm. For now mark your calendars, and start telling your pro-gun friends.

A few weeks ago I started asking for co-hosts/sponsors; several have already contacted me donating funds for free beer and karma items that will be given away at the event! This event will be private, only MDShooters members and your friends invited. No cover, and I'm hoping to get enough generous 'co-hosts' that many, especially those that arrive first will likely get their first beer free! I've already received enough donations that the first 20 will get a free beer. More donations inbound, and I'm still accepting sponsors, PM or email me for details if you want to help make this event an even bigger success.

Hate to be a stickler, but please change your wording so as to keep the brewery out of trouble. Anyone holding an alcoholic beverage license in Maryland cannot give away free beer or alcohol. I fully understand that through donations you will be able to purchase the beer for the first 20 people. We had a problem with our local liquor board just last year about this subject. IIRC the section from COMAR says
You cannot consume an alcoholic beverage that was not purchased on the licensed premises

These will be purchased, as I understand it... just not necessarily by the recipient.

MM's working from an event "sponsor" perspective, where some attendees are footing the bill for X-number of others.

Thanks for the advice, and I will be editing the Original Post (OP) in a few weeks once most/all of the details are ironed out. The brewery is not giving away free beer; not by a long shot. Every beer (they only sell beer, it's a brewery!) will be paid for. Everyone should come expecting to pay for their own beer, but if another member buys you a beer, that's very generous of them, and you might want to return the favor in kind. Thanks hitwtom, I'll try to make it more clear when I repost the OP!

Yep, this exactly. I've already received enough money or pledges from co-hosts/sponsors to buy at least a couple dozen of those first participants (fellow MDShooters members) a beer at the meet up. I'm just trying to figure out the most efficient way to do it, and give credit to the co-hosts/sponsors. I'm considering doing name tags or buttons for many of you that have stuck with the same avatar/name for a long time; or maybe just giving a shout-out during the half-time break/announcements/Karma give-away) undecided at this point, thanks for the advice and suggestions. Trying to keep this as simple (and safe) as possible.

Great suggestion, and I have received offers from some to be designated drivers already. I will emphasize this again when I re-phrase the OP; but this isn't an Octoberfest or drinkfest; please don't drive drunk and everyone attending is responsible for themselves - getting there, and getting home. Great idea to carpool, or rent a room nearby if you plan to stay over night. Many of the MDShooters community are military, police, feds, doctors, lawyers, tradesmen, craftsmen, and just plain good looking (hey, pays the bills! :)) Seriously though - anyone who's attended any of our events in the past already knows, these are not the place to do anything 'sketchy'; no illegal items or behavior obviously, and just enjoy a few hours with your fellow MDShooters members. Big-boy-rules apply (meaning: you alone are responsible for yourself, know an obey the law - (but look out for others)). Please make any special transportation or lodging arrangements on your own/groups, as necessary. P.s. yes, I know a few of you well enough that you will be welcome to stay at my place if needed. I'm probably going to take the following day off - just in case. :)

Minuteman, I sent you a PM about making the beer free....

    I'm in.

Got it, very generous you... and several others so far. I'm still accepting sponsors/co-hosts; and will announce or recognize everyone that donated money or Karma for the event.

Note to all: if you know you are going to attend, please just hold onto your money and/or karma, just let me know you are a sponsor/co-host, and then buy your buddies, or whomever else you want a beer. That simple; running this on the honor system. I now have a box in the corner of my dining room with stuff donated from members to give away for Karma. Depending on how much stuff we are going to give away, will figure out a way to do it quickly and efficiently; in a way that respects everyone and recognizes the donors.

I was there tonight for a homebrew club event and tour. Great beer!! I'm not usually one to go for fruity beers, but I really enjoyed both their "Made Wit Basil" and "B.Limey Pale Ale". I'll bring along a few more folks for the MDS event.

Stupid question #573,892: Is this basically just a drinking establishment/meetup? Will there be non-alcoholic stuff to drink and food?
